Department of Aging Disability And Home Care offers concessions and rebates to people receiving pensions or Senior Card Holders. The government has taken efforts to support older people, so that they receive services and benefits at concessional prices.
The concessions and rebates offered are for Local council rates, water and energy, motor vehicles and drivers/riders licenses, travel concessions and health-related concessions. The NSW veterans are also eligible for these concessions.
The eligible pensioners receive concessions on local council rates for charges on domestic waste management, water rates and sewage rates. The government under the Life Support Rebate offers concessional charges on using medical equipment such as kidney dialysis machine or respirator/ventilator facilities.
The Sydney Water and Hunter Water provide rebates to customers using water in life sustaining equipment such as kidney dialysis machines. The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) offers concessional vehicle registration charges including driver’s license fees. The pensioners also receive travel concessions for transport in NSW, the rail bus and ferry services. The pensioners can also benefit on health related concessions, such as ambulance services, hearing aids, dental assistance, and free eye examinations.
